IFTAAR TIME- POST 4

Published June 29, 2014 by katysoqewl

Your energy level is below 0, your stomach is growling and the aroma of samoosa and springrolls just add to the hunger. These last 4 minutes seem like 4 hours. With the kajoor seed already taken out and the zam zam poured into your glass, you sit rather impatiently for the ATHAAN to go.

Mum asks you to please go and fetch the sandwich man sauce from the fridge. You roll your eyes and curse her about 5 times on the way to the kitchen. You bang the fridge door and snap at your baby brother when he asks you to pass him the water which is right next to you. Sound familiar?

Well I can assure you that you are not the only one. But Ramadhaan suppose to be the month of patience and kindness. The month of total bliss and performance of good deeds. Throwing away your reward at the end id like a castle near completion that gets broken down, it is a waste of money and time. I the same light when you utter those few words out of frustration, you are throwing away your reward, so hereunder are a few tips for you:

  • Try waking up for sehri, I know it’s cold, but just try and you won’t be that hungry.
  • When you get hungry, read the duaa for anger instead of uttering hate speech.
  • Make duaa during this blessed time before iftaar because this is the time when duaas are readily accepted.
  • And when someone asks you to do something, do it for the pleasure of Allah and Insha’Allah you will be rewarded.

I hope that these tips were of help to you and don’t forget to please remember me in your duaa

DRESSING UP- POST 3

Published June 28, 2014 by katysoqewl

If you don’t shop at ZARA for jackets, Sissy Boy for jeans, Aldo for pumps, Edgars for perfume and don’t go at least once in two months to Sandton just to waste money, you are considered low class. If you don’t show up to every occasion with a different outfit the gossip include,” she is an outfit repeater!” and if you don’t own at least one of the  21st century technological inventions you might as well have lived in the 1800’s. This is the unfortunate yet harsh reality. Peer pressure, the greatest factor that affects us, young muslimahs. BUT remember you are not trying to impress your friends by showing of your R2000 jacket or R3000 new ISSEY MIYAKE perfume; rather you should try to impress Allah by your 2000 durood or 3000 astaghfiullah. I’m not saying, don’t dress up, I’m saying do it in moderation. Don’t wear things simply because all your friends wear it, wear things you like and are comfortable in, because no matter what you wear, it could be the latest JUICY COUTURE, JIMMY CHOO, PRADA or GUESS lines, but still society will have comments. So, you can’t please everybody and don’t bother trying because you will lose your peace in the process. Dress as you like in accordance with the shariah and sweep societies norms under the rug.

Show people that you are not a trend follower but a trend setter. If you want to follow all those celebrities dress up styles, keep this in mind. The qur’aan mentions, “Those who imitate (the ways) of another nation (religion) will be raised with them(on the day of qiyaamah).

THE REALITY- POST 2

Published June 27, 2014 by katysoqewl

Safiyyah (friend) is a braggart when it comes to her RAMEEZ MOOSA. Mum and dad are worse than Principle Perry about your grades, siblings are more annoying than thou can imagine and the worst problem is nobody ever likes my selfies on Instagram!! Ever felt this way?? Yeah, i thought so. Well I’m afraid to say it, but we all are in the same boat, but recently I learned a few tips that I would like to share:

  • Firstly Saffiyah’s RAMEEZ MOOSA is dating Amaani behind her back.
  • Secondly mum and dad are only concerned for your future because that laptop of yours isn’t going to get you anywhere in life.
  • Thirdly, if your siblings weren’t there, who would run to fetch your charger from your room when your phone is on 0.05% battery life and who will verse you in Call Of Duty when the internet connections are down and you can’t play online. So, i know you don’t want to admit it, but life without them would be boring. Having said that i guess you will have to put up with their tantrums now and then
  • Lastly, the selfie thing shouldn’t bother you at all, but I know it does and then you start questioning yourself,” Am i really that ugly? , Does nobody think I’m even a little cute?” but remember people shouldn’t love you for what’s on your head, but for what’s in it.

So now that you know that, don’t think others lives are perfect because it may seem like that on the surface but below, tectonic plates are moving.

BOYS POST 1

Published June 27, 2014 by katysoqewl

I know your heart races when *aghm* talks to you, you turn pink, blue and red when he compliments you and your stomach does flips when he texts you even if it just for homework. Your mind boggles when you overhear your name in his conversations and last but not least your heart breaks when he goes on in class about his weekend with “MISHKA”.

Here above are things we can all relate to because it is day to day happenings. All the moulanas probably wind and grind you about how zina is bad in every form!! I know, we get lectures every day, so i am not going to tell you to look at the floor when you walk, but rather you should try following the steps below and INSHA-ALLAH you will be getting less sin:

  • Begin by dumping that boyfriend of yours that is forever giving you grey hair.
  • Cut down your communication with the opposite gender, avoid unnecessary conversations and mixed gender group social circles.
  • I know when STEPHAN&DAMON SALVATORE, CHANNING TATUM, ADNAN JANUZAJ, DOUGLAS BOOTH or for those of you who have “BEIBER FEVER”, JUSTIN BEIBER appear on the TV screen, your eyeballs glare at them like it is running out of fashion. It’s completely normal but you should try to cut down the amount you watch, i am not saying stop Vampire Diaries or Arrow just be more conscious now when you watch.
