Ramadhaan, the time we pause our Vampire Diaries, Suits, The Originals, Greys Anatomy, Teen wolf, 90210, The Lying game and turn on ITV. The time when the hair starightener and tank tops gets packed away, the abayas get washed. Oh and the “muslimah” comes out in us.
Feeling guilty, well this is the harsh reality. Every Ramadhaan you say to yourself, “ This Ramadhaan is going to change me, I’m going into full time scarf after this and starting madressa and not going to talk to talk to boys on Wattsapp, but what happens after the 30 days is gone? The moon is sighted, the hard drive and hair straightener comes out and you are messaging your boy friends because tomorrow is EID!!!
Let this not be the case this Ramadhaan, let this one change your life for the better and may it uplift you spiritually, let it bring you closer to your creator and let it be a means of you identifying with your rabb. I know it s difficult to put on that scarf on EID day when all your family member aren’t wearing it, but just try and who knows, you could be the reason behind then starting. When you face challenges along your path, remember that, “when you take one step toward Allah, he takes 10 towards you”
