THE LOVE STORY OF A CANCER TEEN- PART 2/3- POST 37

Published September 13, 2014 by katysoqewl

Okay, so the days came and went as usual, each one like the previous, filled with depression and pain. The chemo wasn’t helping me and so to prevent further side effects, they stopped sending me for it. I was secretly glad because it put me through hell.

It was a typical day at school, sitting in physics, the six of us that did decide to take that nightmare subject when the secretary announced for me to go to the office. Aggh seriously, just when i was getting the hang of this polar covanent and non- polar covanent stuff. I left the class, walking into the admin block, received my brothers 13th letter for the year about misbehaviour, and as i walked out, i heard a voice speaking in the principals office, one i didn’t recognize. I heard grade: 10, so i was like just great another bo-ho headed new kid in class. That day during second break, i made myself up those stairs to go for namaaz. As my colleague prefects hauled at all the small kiddos to be quiet and put their burkas on, the boys on the opposite end began salaah.

“STAWH AQIMU SUHUFAKUM WATARAASUU SAFFAL AWWAL AL AWWAL”

( trying to write the arabic intention of salaah in english)

Said a remarkably sweet voice, free of vocal glitches.. ( did it have to be zuhr, now i don’t get to hear whoever he is read)

After buying my Aero, which i have every single day  or else my head literally doesn’t function, i made my way to class. On entry, i saw Abdurahmaan talking to someone who from the back looked like no one i knew. He wasn’t dressed in school uniform and so i presumed this is the new boy.

He turned around and our eyes met, he smiled at me and turned to walk away. Adurahmaan gave me the look like, “ don’t you dare!!”

Turns out his name is Taariq and is from Abu Dhabi. When i heard this, my heart leapt, my parents probably know them, since Abu Dhabi is our second home. According to them Dubai to too cliché and so they’ve moved a few miles away. That day i arrived home to find the tables set like nicely and not the usual luminarc plates and arcroc glasses. Mum actually brought out those crystal glasses she got as a gift at some really high class function. On enquiry, she replied that the new neighbours are coming over. “ new neighbours” “ yeah, the boy is about your age, you use to play with him in Ferarri world when you were younger”.

“ what!!?, that is Tariq?”

“yes”

“ as in Tariq, Tariq, scared of heights and slush lover Tariq?”

“ so, you do remember him?”

“ duh, i do, he was the one that took me on the fastest roller coaster in the world, while other people shopped at Khalidiyah mall with aunty Noora”

“ that doesn’t matter, you still went didn’t you? So shoosh!, come help me place the last ferreros on the cake”

“ mum you went like really all out, this is not normal”

“ they use to do everything for us when we use to go for your additional therapy to abu dhabi, it is time, we return the favour’

“ okay..”
